The National Council of Muslim Youth Organisations of Nigeria (NACOMYO), Edo State Chapter, has plans to empower 100 youths with various skills to foster self-reliance and community development.
The initiative was unveiled at a recent conference for Edo Muslim Youth Leaders, aims to address youth unemployment and social vices like cybercrime which held in Benin City the state capital.
Mallam Muhammed Ibrahim, the State Coordinator, emphasized the council's commitment to building strong partnerships with relevant agencies to train youths for leadership roles and instill moral values.
According to him, "The council plans to collaborate with the state government, private sector, and corporate organizations to provide opportunities for Muslim youth. By equipping them with practical skills and knowledge, NACOMYO seeks to empower them to contribute meaningfully to society"
He continued, "NACOMYO was charged with the responsibility of providing the common front for articulating and expressing the views and disposition of the Muslim youth organisations of all states, and national issues that concern youths "
In his remarks, Mallam Abdulazeez Igbenedu, Chairman of the Edo State Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, commended the initiative and urged youths to embrace hard work, determination, and moral values. He also praised Governor Monday Okpebolo for his inclusive leadership, which has seen Muslims appointed to key positions like SSG and Chief of Staff.
The conference highlighted the importance of interfaith harmony and community engagement.
Mallam Harun Umar, a guest lecturer, emphasized the need for Muslims to work collaboratively with people of other faiths to build a better society.
By promoting unity, understanding, and cooperation, NACOMYO aims to create a positive impact on the lives of Edo's Muslim youth and the community at large.
