Edo Govt Reinstates Unjustly Dismissed Ambrose Alli University Staff

By Abdul-Kadir Abdullah

In a significant move towards rectifying past injustices, the Edo State Government under the leadership of Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has announced the immediate reinstatement of Ambrose Alli University (AAU) Ekpoma staff who were wrongfully dismissed by the previous administration.

In a government special announcement dated December 2, 2024, issued by Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor Esq earlier today, the affected staff, primarily members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), were relieved of their duties in March 2023 by the Special Intervention Team (SIT) established by former Governor Godwin Obaseki. The dismissal followed protests by the university staff over unpaid salaries and other entitlements.

Governor Okpebholo's administration has emphasized its commitment to justice and the rule of law, deeming the previous dismissal as an unjust act. The reinstatement decision reflects the government's determination to correct such wrongs and ensure a fair working environment for all Edo State citizens.

The SSG made the official announcement highlighting the government's dedication to upholding the principles of natural justice, equity, and good conscience.
