Edo Pilgrims Board Debunks Social Media Report on Pilgrims’ Accommodation in Madinah

By Abdul-Kadir Abdullah

The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has debunked reports circulating on social media alleging that Edo pilgrims raised concerns over poor accommodation in Madinah, Saudi Arabia.

The Chairman of the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, clarified the issue during a prayer session and interactive meeting with the pilgrims, dismissing the report as misleading.

Mallam Uduimoh noted that the accommodation arrangements in Madinah remain generally satisfactory, stressing that while no system is perfect, the arrangements in place have been effectively managed to cater for the pilgrims.

He said, “I want to debunk the report on social media that we complained about poor accommodation. There was nothing like that. If there was going to be anything, we have a media team assigned to us, and they have been very active. There is no perfect system; it is not easy to handle crowd. I can say that what we have in terms of accommodation and others is fairly good,”

He explained that only minor issues were observed upon arrival, particularly regarding toilet facilities, which were quickly addressed.

“Yes, we had a few issues about toilet facilities when we arrived, and that could be basically because we arrived very late. But that has been resolved,” he added.

The chairman further assured that the board remains open to consultation and constructive advice, noting that communication channels are always available for engagement and support.

“We are open for consultation and advice. You can always reach out to us for anything,” he said.

Mallam Uduimoh also reminded pilgrims that arrangements for their return movement had been concluded, advising them to confirm their names and bus allocations ahead of departure scheduled for the next day.

“Tomorrow we are leaving this place. Please check your names to know the bus you enter,” he directed.

The board reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring a smooth and well-coordinated Hajj exercise for all Edo pilgrims, while urging them to remain orderly and focused as preparations continue for their movement to Makkah.
