Edo SSG Lauds Civil Servants as Driving Force Behind Government Achievements

By Abdul-Kadir Abdullah

The Secretary to the Edo State Government (SSG), Umar Musa Ikhilor Esq, has underscored the vital role of civil servants in driving the successes of the state government, noting that no meaningful achievement can be recorded without their commitment and support.

The SSG made this known during the weekend while hosting staff of government to a Sallah get-together in celebration of Eid-el-Fitr at his residence in Benin City.

The event, which drew Permanent Secretaries, Directors, and other senior and junior staff across ministries, departments and agencies, served as an avenue for appreciation and reflection following the Ramadan fast.

Addressing the gathering, Ikhilor described the workforce as the backbone of government, acknowledging their contributions to the implementation of policies and programmes of the administration.

He said, “You are very important to the government and you have contributed to the successes we have recorded as a government. So whenever we have the opportunity, we say, let us show appreciation. One of such opportunities is today,”

He stressed that the achievements of the administration are a product of collective effort, urging staff to remain dedicated and committed to service.

The SSG also highlighted the significance of unity and religious harmony, noting that the coincidence of Lent and Ramadan this year reflects shared values of sacrifice and devotion.

He said, “We wish you all Barka da Sallah. Just the way Lent and Ramadan coincided this year, and you have come to celebrate Sallah with us, we will also invite you to celebrate Easter with us by the special grace of God,”

Responding on behalf of the Governor’s Press Crew, Abdul-Kadir Abdullah commended the SSG for his leadership and recognition of staff contributions, noting that his inclusive approach has strengthened morale within the system.

The gathering featured interactions among staff and reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to fostering a supportive and productive work environment for sustained development in Edo State.
