The Governor of Edo State, Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed profound grief following the sudden passing of Hon. Charles Idahosa, the patriarch of the Idahosa family of Ehor and a towering figure in Edo State politics.
Known affectionately by his political moniker, "Charly Tempo," Hon. Idahosa was a veteran administrator and a cornerstone of the Uhunmwode Local Government Area.
In a statement released by the Chief Press Secretary, Ebojele Akhere Patrick, PhD, Governor Okpebholo described the news of Idahosa’s death as a significant shock. He lauded the late statesman as an eminent indigene who dedicated his life to the socio-political growth and physical development of Edo State.
The Governor highlighted Idahosa’s extensive career in public service, which included high-profile roles such as: State Commissioner, Special Adviser, and Board Member of various government agencies
The Governor remarked, "Hon. Charles Idahosa was a genuine party stalwart. He was a man who believed firmly in the establishment of institutions and gave his all toward entrenching those beliefs in our political landscape."
Governor Okpebholo extended his deepest sympathies to the people of Ehor and the wider Uhunmwode community, noting that the loss is felt far beyond the family compound.
The Governor offered prayers for the repose of the deceased's soul and sought divine comfort for the widow, children, and the extended Idahosa family during this period of mourning.
The passing of "Charly Tempo" marks the end of an era for many in Edo State, as he was widely regarded as a fearless leader and a mentor to many upcoming political figures.
