The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Prof. Victor Adetimirin Olawale as the new Vice Chancellor of Edo University, Iyamho.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq., and dated August 8, 2025, Governor Monday Okpebholo approved the appointment with immediate effect.
Prof. Olawale, a distinguished academic and seasoned administrator, brings decades of experience in teaching, research, and university leadership to the role.
A Professor of Agronomy, he earned his B.Sc. in Agriculture as well as his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Plant Breeding and Genetics from the University of Ibadan.
Over the course of his career, Prof. Olawale has served in various leadership capacities, including Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, and Director of Academic Planning. He is recognised for his contributions to curriculum development, research innovations, and institutional reforms within Nigeria’s higher education sector.
Widely published in both local and international journals, he has supervised numerous postgraduate students to successful completion, underscoring his commitment to academic mentorship and research excellence.
The Edo State Government expressed confidence that his wealth of experience, dedication to scholarship, and visionary leadership will further position Edo University, Iyamho, as a leading center of learning and research in Nigeria and beyond.
