A wave of joy and pride has swept through the Edo Muslim community as Edo University Uzairue (EUI) announced the promotion of Dr. Oseni Tijani Idris Ahmad to the rank of Associate Professor of Family Medicine.
This milestone, revealed in a statement by Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dawood O. Egbefo, is being celebrated as evidence of the dedication, integrity, and intellectual prowess that Islam cultivates.
Dr. Oseni’s promotion, alongside that of Engr. Prof. Ugheoke Benjamin Iyenagbe (Mechanical Engineering) to Professor and Dr. (Mrs.) C.A. Idaguko (Anatomy) to Associate Professor, follows glowing external evaluations of their scholarly work.
However, it is Dr. Oseni’s achievement that resonates deeply within the Muslim community in Edo State, serving as a powerful example of Islamic excellence in the professional sphere.
Reacting to this, Sheikh Sirajudeen Muhammad, General Coordinator, Edo Muslim for Equity and Good Governance (EMEGG), noted: "This is not just a personal achievement for Dr. Oseni. It is a victory for the entire Muslim Ummah. It demonstrates how a commitment to faith and knowledge can lead to remarkable success. Dr. Oseni embodies the Islamic values of seeking knowledge, serving humanity, and striving for excellence"
Prof. Egbefo’s announcement highlighted the "overwhelmingly positive" feedback from external evaluators, underscoring the high caliber of research produced by EUI faculty. The university community is particularly proud of Dr. Oseni, whose dedication to his profession and strong faith have culminated in this well-deserved recognition.
Some other Muslims who also reacted to this, believe that Dr. Oseni's success is a source of inspiration for Muslim youth. It proves that a Muslim can excel in any field while upholding their Islamic principles. They believe that he has demonstrated that Islam encourages and celebrates intellectual pursuit and professional excellence.
The promotion of Dr. Oseni is being seen as a reaffirmation of the Islamic tradition of seeking knowledge as an act of worship. His achievement is a reminder that Muslims are called to contribute positively to society, excelling in their chosen fields and serving as beacons of light and guidance.
The Muslim community in Edo State extends its heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Oseni Tijani Idris Ahmad, and to Engr. Prof. Ugheoke Benjamin Iyenagbe and Dr. (Mrs.) C.A. Idaguko. Their achievements are a evidence to the pursuit of knowledge and excellence, values deeply rooted in Islamic tradition.
