Edo Commences Disbursement of Funds to 2023 Pilgrims for Services Not Rendered

The Edo state Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has commenced the disbursement of funds to the 2023 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for services not rendered during the 2023 Hajj operations.

The action which is in adherence to the directive of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria, (NAHCON) commenced on the 24th December, 2024 In the state.

In a communication made available to journalists, the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Eranga Muhammadkabir Abdulkabir noted "our state has commenced the disbursement of the 2023 Hajj refund to the 2023 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia for services not rendered in that year's hajj Operations.

Eranga added that the refund is in line with the mandate of NAHCON to refund money to all the 2023 pilgrims for Hajj services not rendered to them at the Holy land.

According to him, " the NAHCON has made a refund of SR 64, 200 which is equivalent to Twenty Six Million, One Hundred and Forty Two Thousand, Two Hundred and Forty Naira (₦26,142,240) only to 428 Edo State Muslim Pilgrims for services not rendered to them during the 2023 Hajj operations"

The Executive Secretary advised those who are yet to respond to the call for refund to do so as the Board has commenced disbursement.

"Kindly inform those who went for the 2023 Hajj to submit their account details via WhatsApp to the Accountant on 07039154177 or to the ICT on 08034978677 for refund. "Alhaji Eranga said".

In another development, the Executive Secretary said the Board has commenced sensitisation programme across the state to inform and educate the 2025 intending pilgrims on the need for early payment and preparation in order to beat the January 2025 deadline.
