Edo assembly passes N675bn 2025 budget into law

The Edo State House of Assembly on Monday, 23rd December, 2024, passed the 2025 budget estimates of N676 billion as against the N605 billion presented to the House by Governor Monday Okpekholo.

The governor had on December 10, 2024 presented the 2025 budget estimates of N 605 billion tagged budget of "Renewed hope for a rising  Edo"  to the State House of Assembly for consideration.

The passage of the 2025 approved budget by the House comprises recurrent  expenditure estimate of N225bn and  capital expenditure estimate of N451billion respectively.

The passage of the budget was sequel to the consideration of the report of the house committee on appropriation, budget and project monitoring on the year 2025 appropriation bill presented by chairman house committee on appropriation and project monitoring Hon.Sunday Fada during plenary 

Hon.Sunday said during the budget consideration, that the committee came up with an increase in the budgetary allocation to enable the governor to carry out his 5 points agenda 

The House at the committee of supply, subjected the budget estimates to clause by clause consideration and subsequently, approved an increase from the earlier proposed sum of N605billion to N676billion

The speaker, Blessing Agbebaku, thereafter directed the Clerk of the house Alhaji yahaya Audu Omogbai, to forward  clean copies of the bill to the governor for his assent
