By Abdul-Kadir Abdullah

The Edo State Muslim Pilgrim Welfare Board has fixed dates for the final screening exercise for intending pilgrims ahead of their departure to Saudi Arabia for the 2026 Hajj, as part of preparations to ensure a smooth and well-coordinated pilgrimage.

The Board, in a statement signed by its Executive Secretary, Alhaji Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammadkabir, said the exercise will also include the distribution of pilgrims' travel bags to all registered pilgrims across the state.

According to the schedule released, pilgrims from Edo South Senatorial District are to appear for the screening on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Hajj Board office located at 2/3 Ugomosun Street, off Dumez Road, Benin City, by 9:00 a.m.

Those from Edo Central and Edo North Senatorial Districts will have their screening on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at Irrua Central Mosque, opposite the Palace, and Arafat Mosque, Auchi, respectively, also by 9:00 a.m.

The Board noted that the final screening exercise is compulsory for all intending pilgrims, stressing that it remains a prerequisite for departure as well as for the collection of e-Visas.

It therefore urged all pilgrims to attend promptly and comply fully with the process to avoid any disruptions to their participation in the 2026 Hajj exercise.
