Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has commended members of the Edo State House of Assembly (EDHA) for sustaining a harmonious working relationship with the Executive arm of government, describing the synergy as key to the achievements recorded by his administration in the past one year.
The Governor gave the commendation while receiving the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, principal officers, and members of the Assembly during an Easter visit to his residence in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of the State.
Governor Okpebholo noted that the cordial relationship between both arms of government has fostered unity and created an enabling environment for the implementation of policies and programmes that have advanced development across the state.
“I am very happy since I assumed office in November 2024, you have created a peaceful atmosphere for my administration to achieve its set down goals, implement policies that have moved the State forward.
“The harmonious working relationship shared between the Executive and the Legislative Arm of government is largely responsible for the appreciable success recorded by my administration in the past one year.
“We are working together in unity and since we came together as one, there have been tangible and positive results to show for our cooperation and collaboration.
“When the house is united and there is no division there is always a pass mark to show Edo people,” Okpebholo said.
He urged the lawmakers to sustain the existing synergy, expressing optimism that more developmental strides would be achieved in a peaceful and cooperative environment.
Earlier, the Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku, reaffirmed the Assembly’s continued support for the policies and programmes of the Okpebholo-led administration, assuring that the House remains committed to helping the government fulfil its electioneering promises to the people of Edo State.
Agbebaku, who spoke on behalf of the 24-member Assembly, commended the Governor for the notable achievements recorded since he assumed office on November 12, 2024.
he said, “Today, we are in your country home to celebrate Easter with you and to also let you know that you are doing great work for Edo people. We promise to support you as a House and assure you that every budget you submit will be appropriately considered and approved to enable you continue to implement the SHINE agenda for the benefit of Edo people,”
He added that the Assembly would continue to collaborate with the Executive arm to drive development, noting that the ongoing construction of the state’s first flyover stands as a landmark achievement in Edo’s history.
