The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board has intensified preparations for the 2026 Hajj exercise, urging intending pilgrims to strictly adhere to all guidelines to ensure a smooth and hitch-free pilgrimage.
This was contained in a statement released to journalists in Benin City recently by the Executive Secretary of the Board, Alhaji Eranga Abdulkabir Muhammadkabir, who emphasized the need for discipline, cooperation, and full compliance with established regulations.
According to the statement, the Board is working in collaboration with relevant authorities to put in place necessary logistics for the successful airlift and welfare of pilgrims from Edo State.
The statement also conveyed the position of the Chairman of the Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, who urged intending pilgrims to see the exercise as both a spiritual obligation and a responsibility to uphold the image of the state.
Mallam Uduimoh, according to the statement, advised pilgrims to conduct themselves in an orderly manner and comply with all travel and security requirements, stressing that such cooperation would facilitate a seamless Hajj operation.
He particularly highlighted the importance of adhering to guidelines on luggage and safety, noting that certain items have been prohibited and must not be taken along for the pilgrimage.
He warned that failure to comply could attract sanctions from aviation and security authorities.
The Chairman further encouraged intending pilgrims to participate actively in upcoming orientation programmes to be organized by the Board, which are designed to educate them on the rites of Hajj and expected conduct throughout the exercise.
The Board also called on the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Edo State and Nigeria, urging them to demonstrate patience, humility, and respect for the laws of the host country.
While wishing all intending pilgrims a successful and spiritually rewarding Hajj, the Board enjoined them to use the opportunity to pray for peace, unity, and progress in Edo State and the nation at large.
