The Edo State Government, through the Ministry of Power, in collaboration with the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), has announced a Christmas promotional offer on prepaid electricity meters under the Edo State Mass Metering Programme (EMMP).
According to the Programme Manager of the Edo State Mass Metering Programme, Mr. Frank Odiase, prepaid meters are being offered at the following subsidised rates: Single Phase Meter: ₦120,000; Three Phase Meter: ₦205,000
Mr. Odiase stated that the promo is valid from December 15, 2025 to January 5, 2026, and interested customers can register online at www.edommp.org.ng.
He explained that the Edo State Mass Metering Programme was established to close the metering gap in the state and protect electricity consumers from exploitation through high estimated billing by BEDC.
He disclosed that over 34,000 BEDC customers across Edo State have been metered since the programme’s inception, significantly reducing the prevalence of estimated billing while also lowering commercial and collection losses for BEDC.
Mr. Odiase further noted that the Edo State Ministry of Power is the government body representing the Edo State Government in the collaboration with BEDC to roll out the metering initiative.
He added that under the Christmas promo, eligible customers can register, make payment, and have their meters installed within 24 hours.
