Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his bold economic reforms and developmental policies, describing them as crucial to Nigeria’s long-term growth and transformation.
Speaking at the City Boy Movement empowerment programme in Benin City, the governor commended the Federal Government’s continued support to states, which he said had provided the resources for meaningful infrastructural development across Edo State.
Okpebholo stated, "These projects are made possible through the support of President Tinubu,”
“I urge all Edo people to continue supporting the President, whose reforms, though tough, are essential for Nigeria’s progress.”
The governor cited the ongoing construction of flyover bridges and other infrastructure projects as evidence of his administration’s commitment to development in all three senatorial districts of the state.
He also reiterated his government’s determination to rebuild the education sector, noting that new reforms had led to increased school enrolment and better learning facilities across Edo.
He said, “The previous government claimed to have transformed education in Edo State, but our findings show otherwise,”
“We are changing the narrative so that Edo children can compete globally.”
Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, urged youths to rally behind the City Boy Movement, stressing that Edo State would deliver the highest number of votes for President Tinubu in the next general election.
Idahosa said, "Edo belongs to President Tinubu because he is a reliable and decisive leader,”
“With the governor’s performance, opposition in Edo will soon become history.”
Also speaking, the Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, praised Governor Okpebholo for his achievements, describing the event as a celebration of peace and progress.
He reaffirmed that the Tinubu administration places youth empowerment at the centre of its national agenda.
Olawande said, “Nigeria’s youths are its greatest asset. Through various platforms and skill development programmes, this administration is empowering young people to build better futures for themselves and the nation.”
The Edo State Commissioner for Education and Director of the City Boy Movement, Mr. Paddy Iyamu, highlighted several of the governor’s achievements within one year in office, including the construction of 68 new schools, sponsorship of five students to China, a ₦1 billion bursary scheme, and empowerment initiatives for market women and small businesses.
He also commended President Tinubu for introducing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), ensuring that no child in Edo State is deprived of education due to financial challenges.
Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Oluwatosin, applauded Governor Okpebholo’s “visionary and silent leadership style,” noting progress in education, healthcare, security, and infrastructure.
He described Tinubu’s economic reforms as “bold steps toward national restructuring and sustainable growth.”
Oluwatosin added that the City Boy Movement remains Africa’s largest socio-political youth platform, with a target of mobilizing 10 million votes for President Tinubu in 2027.
