The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Mrs. Vivian Elabor as the new Director General of the Edo State Tourism Agency.
The appointment, which takes immediate effect, was approved by the Governor, His Excellency Senator Monday Okpebholo.
According to a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq, Mrs. Elabor brings over two decades of experience in media, community engagement, and public relations to her new role.
Mrs. Elabor holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Media and Mass Communication from the London Metropolitan University, United Kingdom, as well as diplomas in Theatre Arts and Healthcare Management.
Her professional background spans several sectors in the United Kingdom, where she served as Head of Production and Presenter at BEN Television, London, producing impactful programmes that promoted African culture and excellence.
She has also worked extensively in housing management and rehabilitation services, providing leadership in organizations such as Change Grow Live (CGL) and Clear Springs–Ready Homes, where she supported vulnerable populations.
Beyond her media and management experience, Mrs. Elabor has demonstrated a strong commitment to humanitarian causes through her role as a Board Member of the Centre for Wounded Servicemen and Fallen Heroes Support Fund.
Governor Okpebholo’s administration stated that the appointment underscores its determination to reposition Edo State’s tourism and creative economy sector as a major driver of economic diversification, cultural renaissance, and youth empowerment.
Mrs. Elabor is expected to spearhead strategic initiatives aimed at revitalizing Edo’s tourism potential, promoting its rich cultural heritage, and creating opportunities within the creative industries.
Her appointment marks another step in the state government’s ongoing effort to attract investment, enhance cultural exchange, and establish Edo State as a leading destination for tourism and creative enterprise in Nigeria.
