Governor Monday Okpebholo of Edo State has called on the people of Edo Central Senatorial District to rally behind the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the forthcoming senatorial by-election in the area, assuring that voting for the party will usher in a new era of development and progress across the region.
The governor made the appeal during a campaign rally held in Ewohimi, Awu and Ubiaja communities in Esan South East Local Government Area.
Represented by the APC Senatorial Leader, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe (Rtd), Governor Okpebholo said the time had come for Esan people to take their destiny in their hands by supporting one of their own.
“The people of Esanland have always looked forward to a time when one of their own would become governor. Now that God has made it possible by making Monday Okpebholo governor, it is time to show appreciation and unity by supporting the APC at all levels.”
He described the August 16, 2025 by-election as a crucial test of Esan people’s commitment to consolidating power and attracting dividends of democracy, urging voters to come out en masse and vote for the APC candidate, Hon. Joseph Ikpea.
He added, “The success of this by-election will send a strong message that the Esan people are united and ready to move forward with development under the APC-led government,”
The rally continued to witness a large number of decampees from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC, signaling growing support and solidarity for the ruling party in the district.
Many of the new entrants including the councilors representing ward 1 and 2 with their followers pledged their full allegiance to the APC, expressing confidence in the leadership of Governor Okpebholo and the party’s candidate.
The event was attended by top party leaders and stakeholders, including the Director General of the APC Edo Central Senatorial Campaign Council, Rt. Hon. Victor Sabor, among others, who all echoed the call for unity and collective action towards victory on election day.
