NACOMYO Edo State Swears In Newly Elected Executives

The National Council of Muslim Youth Organizations (NACOMYO), Edo State Chapter, has successfully held its 8th Assembly election and inauguration of new state executives, marking another milestone in the group’s mission to foster Muslim youth leadership in the state.

The event, which took place during the weekend, at the IbadurRahman Central Mosque (NSCIA School Compound) in Benin City, the state capital, witnessed the swearing-in of 24 newly elected state executives, 16 males and 8 females, after a competitive election involving candidates from diverse Muslim organizations across Edo State.

The Shurah Committee, which supervised the election, was chaired by Alhaji Abdulazeez Igbinidu, Chairman of the Edo State Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (EDSCIA), alongside Alhajia Mrs. A. Usenat, Edo State Amirah of the Federation of Muslim Women Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN). 

Other committee members included Dr. Suleiman Ikhuoria, Senior Lecturer at the University of Benin, and Imam Idris Yusuf, Chief Imam of Oluku Kingdom and National Vice President 1 of NACOMYO, who served as secretary.

Expressing delight over the process, Imam Idris Yusuf said, “I am the happiest person at the moment, being that this is happening in my state.”

The election saw the re-election of Ustaz Muhammad Ibrahim as the 6th State Coordinator. In his acceptance speech, he pledged to pursue the Council’s objectives with renewed vigor and dedication.

Delivering the keynote lecture, Sheikh (Barr.) Nurudeen Asunogie underscored the importance of integrity, truthfulness, hard work, sacrifice, morality, and making a valued impact in building a better society.

Chairman of the occasion, Alhaji Engr. A. Madu, President of the Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), Edo State Chapter, praised the outgoing executives for their dedication and urged the new team to strive for excellence.

The ceremony ended with the administration of the oath of office (Bayyah) by Dr. Ikhuoria, followed by group photographs with Shurah Committee members. 

The new executives are expected to work tirelessly to promote Muslim youth leadership and community development across Edo State.
