The Edo State Government has announced the appointment of Barrister Kasimu Otono as the new Special Adviser on Oil & Gas to Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo.
The announcement was made public on Thursday through a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, Esq.
According to the statement, Barr. Otono's appointment has been approved by the Governor and takes immediate effect.
He replaces the immediate-past Special Adviser, Mr. Felix Isere, who was earlier suspended from office.
Barr. Kasimu Otono is a seasoned legal practitioner, real estate entrepreneur, philanthropist, and community mobilizer.
He brings with him a wealth of experience, particularly in commercial law and oil and gas-related legal practice.
A member of both the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) and the International Bar Association (IBA), Barr. Otono currently serves as Senior Partner at Kay & Kay Legal, a law firm renowned for its work in Commercial, Real Estate, and Oil & Gas Law and Practice.
The government expressed confidence that Barr. Otono’s expertise and professional background will contribute meaningfully to advancing the oil and gas sector in Edo State, particularly in areas of regulation, investment, and community engagement.
The appointment comes as the state intensifies efforts to strengthen governance and oversight in its key economic sectors, especially oil and gas, which play a significant role in the state's revenue and energy strategy.
