The Edo State Government has announced the cancellation of the monthly environmental sanitation exercise previously scheduled for Saturday, June 28, 2025.

The decision was made to accommodate the nationwide polio immunization campaign, which falls on the same date.

A special announcement signed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Umar Musa Ikhilor, conveyed the cancellation.

The statement clarified that the primary reason for the cancellation is to ensure that health officers and other personnel involved in the crucial polio immunization exercise have unrestricted movement and access throughout the state on that day.

Despite the cancellation of the organized sanitation exercise, the SSG emphasized the continued importance of a clean environment.

The statement read, "Despite the cancellation, all Edo residents are encouraged to keep their immediate environment clean."

This encourages citizens to maintain personal responsibility for sanitation even in the absence of the statewide exercise.
