The Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board played a significant role in a crucial pre-Hajj meeting convened by the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) on Sunday, January 12, 2025, at the Nigerian Hajj Mission Makkah Office, Ummul Jud in Saudi Arabia.

According to the chairman, Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musah Muhammad Uduimoh, who spoke via WhatsApp earlier today, the active participation of the Edo State delegation at the meeting has positioned the state as a leading state in the Nigerian South South states as it concerns Hajj matters.

Chairman Uduimoh expressed optimism about the successful conduct of the 2025 Hajj, stating, "The coordination by NAHCON being experienced here is an indication that the 2025 Hajj will be one of the best inshallah."

In his response, the executive secretary of the board, Alhaji Eranga Muhammadkabir Abdulkabir described the active participation of Edo State's delegation in the meeting as a confirmation of the state's leadership position in Hajj matters within the Southern region of Nigeria.

The meeting, attended by Chief Executives of State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Boards, Agencies, Commissions from across Nigeria, aimed to address critical aspects of the upcoming Hajj season. Over 70 participants, including representatives from the Office of the Vice President of Nigeria and the Nigerian Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, were present.

The discussion covered a range of crucial issues, including updates on the current status of pilgrims' registrations and the remittance process to NAHCON,  discussions on securing suitable and comfortable accommodation for Nigerian pilgrims in Makkah, along with ensuring adequate and nutritious meals, a detailed review and announcement of the registration and payment timeline for the upcoming Hajj season and examination and finalization of the Hajj fare for Nigerian pilgrims.
