The Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Finance and Chairman of the Ease of Doing Business Council in Edo State, Emmanuel Ehidiamen Okoebor
recently embarked on a tour of the Edo State One-Stop-Investment Centre (ES-OSIC), an arm of ESIPO to personally assess the operations and initiatives of the Edo State Investment Promotion Office (ESIPO)-Ease of Doing Business Secretariat.
During his visit today Wednesday November 28, 2024, Honourable Okoebor was impressed by the efficiency and dedication of the ES-OSIC staff. He was taken on a guided tour of various units within the center.
The different units inspected include, Property and Land Related Services Unit; The Business Training and Financial Support Services Unit; Taxes and Payments Support Unit and Business Formalization and Licensing Support Unit.
While the Property and Land Related Services Unit provides comprehensive support for property acquisition, land use permits, and related legal services including Business Membership Organisation (BMO) and Dispute Resolution, the Business Training and Financial Support Services Unit focuses on monitoring business activities, resolving disputes, and providing training and financial support to businesses.
Others are: Taxes and Payments Support Unit
Which assists businesses with tax compliance, payment processing, and tax-related queries.
Environmental, Mining and Energy Related Searches Unit provides information and support on environmental impact assessments, mining permits, and energy-related licenses.
Business Formalization and Licensing Support Unit helps businesses with registration, licensing, and other legal formalities.
After the tour, Hon. Okoebor expressed his satisfaction with the progress made by ESIPO and reiterated his commitment to working hard to streamlining investment processes in Edo State. He emphasized the importance of collaboration between government MDAs to create a favourable business environment in the state.
To gain a deeper understanding of the operations of each department and desk, the Commissioner plans to meet with all team leads and liaison officers to discuss their roles and challenges.
This initiative is expected to further enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of ESIPO and the ES-OSIC as well as to support the Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the state.
